It's a Micro World after all is a blog dedicated to discussing pretty much whatever I feel like. When I delve into scientific matters it will primarily be discussing microbiology (agricultural, bioenergy, and environmental focus). Otherwise, I'll probably ramble on about sports and life.

So I guess it's my turn to broadcast the results of this hockey pool. A pool that I was doing fairly well in, until Cath made me brag. This resulted in me being jinxed for the remainder of the season. Ok, so I was doing well maybe for the first two weeks of the pool, and the trend is clearly for me to stink it up. In my defense though ... this has always been a Canadian sport, and I'm a fan of the Islanders. Those two things mean I was fated to fail.
Anyways, onto the results. Here are the results for Week 23. dreamsandhope (Chall, correct?) ran away with the point total this week with 42. Richardipus trailed her by 7 to come in 2nd. Cath had 31 for 3rd, and a gaggle of us scored 30 points for the week (ScientistMother, Gerty, and myself) for fourth. Bob scored 28, and Lavaland brought up the rear with 27. Since this is all about me, I didn't really gain any ground this week (again), and tying with Gerty meant I'm still solidly in DFL.
The overall standings? Lavaland's poor showing this week allowed Richardipus to sneak within one point of the lead. Everything else stayed pretty much the same except Chall moved into a tie for 5th with ScientistMother.
So, onto Week 24 (and more stinkage for me).

Thomas, thanks for hosting! It is much appreciated :)
Well done Chall and Ricardipus - great showing this week!
I'd be much more upset about my mediocre performances this season if the Canucks weren't kicking ass all over the place. GO CANUCKS GO!
Wow, Chall really kicked some butt and left me behind this week! And that is quite a show from Ricardipus, too! Of course, I'm still sucking, too :-( Apparently I am no good at looking at stats. *sigh*
blah. blah. blah..
YEY!! I kicked some ass this week, for once! :)
(can you tell I am happy?!!? :) ) Thanks for the update Thomas! and don't worry, I'm sure it will go better soon.... as I sort of doubt (but there is always hope, right?) that I can continue this trajectory next week.. and the week after that.... thihi, thi
Nicely done, Chall - I think I was leading on Saturday, but you pummeled me in the weekend games.
I am very nervous about this week though - not enough "obvious" players playing four games, and I made a couple of choices that might end up ill-advised (Nikolai Kuleimin (sp?) of the Leafs jumps to mind).
What was *really* interesting about last week was how different the picks were - I don't think Chall and I had even a single player in common, and I had only one in common with a number of other people. Balanced scoring, I guess.
Finally - BLAST IT!!!! So close to Lavaland... ah well, maybe I can still sneak past...
Brutal week for me! I suspect the same for this week as well as I didn't get an opportunity to make changed while on holiday. As of Tuesday Ricardipus are tied, I think I might start seeing a healthy load of dust in front of me soon!
Nice week everyone! Go Canucks go! First team past the 100 mark!
