Awesome Stuff

What would I be doing if I weren't doing space stuff?

That is an excellent question, and I am glad you asked!

Ok, as you all probably have guessed, I am a total space cadet. And if I were living in a time when space travel/exploration was going on, I'd be the most awesome, kickass, galactic tour guide this side of the universe. But for the time being, seeing as that is not an option, read on for some of my other choices.

Wow, well the world is filled with so many wondrous things that I find absolutely fascinating. Oh man, there is SO much I'd be doing if I had infinite money and time.

Katana SwordFirst of all, of course, I'd become a Kung Fu master and be a top of the line Ninja. 'Cause I mean, who wouldn't, right? Think about it, the stealth moves, the swift action, the cool outfit! While I was at it, I'd probably pick up some skills with the katana sword as well. That would certainly come in handy.

Once a full fledged Ninja, I would be free to roam the globe undetected. I'm sure I'd end up in a cozy grassy patch staring at the sky and picking pretty flowers. What? I love flowers. And skygazing.

Next on the list, still in the realm of science, would be researching communication with Dolphins. I love the ocean, and many of its inhabitants. Not jellyfish though! You hear that? I don't like you at all! Stupid painful jellyfish stings.. hurting and leaving scars.. What is up with that jellyfish? I didn't attack you, I didn't even know you were there. Moving on..

DolphinI went swimming with dolphins once. A long time ago. At the Florida keys. Islamorada I think. It was a bit scary at first to be honest. They are strong, and willful. I would absolutely love to spend a ton of time with them, learning their ways.

On another occasion years later, a friendly dolphin swam nearby while I was snorkeling at the beautiful reefs of the Red Sea. It didn't get too close, and I didn't want to scare it away, so I kept my distance. They seem like a friendly bunch, open to interacting with other species. Have you seen the video of the dog swimming with his dolphin friend?

Dolphins are pretty smart creatures. How amazing it would be if we could have a sort of ally underwater. One that has an entirely different perspective on existence. Well, at least, I hope they have a different perspective on it. Would be really creepy if it were similar to that of humans.

Dolphin love

Anyway, I just read that when different species of dolphins come together, they seem to try to communicate with each other in a common language. If they can do that with each other, why not with us? After all they seem to be outgoing, and often save humans from sharks and from drowning. I'd love to find out why they do that, and how they know to help out in the first place.

Other than being a stealthy dolphin whisperer, I've always been fond of building stuff. So, I'd probably be off building myself a sweet cabin out in nature by a beautiful waterfall. I'd have my own organic veggie and fruit garden, and the most awesome, elaborate tree house village you could ever imagine. Swing ropes, hammocks, elevators using pulley systems, the works. And best part is, you're all invited!

treehouse

Otep And what would my awesome tree house village be without a hard core punk rock band? I have no musical talent whatsoever, however, I do very much appreciate the art form and greatly enjoy it. With some practice though, I'm fairly confident I'd make a badass lead singer for the hardcore band I would probably call 'Evil's Lair'. For those of you who don't know, one of my many nicknames happens to be Evil, and we'd be playing at my lair.. you get it. Soo umm.. anyone wanna join my band? Tideliar? You got some experience in the field, are you in?

In all honesty, if I weren't into science, I'd most certainly be doing my best to make this world a better place in another way. Be that through promoting peace, being nicer to each other no matter what land we live on and what color our skin is. Or helping people, no matter how much money they do or don't have, and what language they may speak. We are still people.

I would love to instill a sense of caring and fairness in the world. Which would hopefully lead to everyone on this planet working together, being treated with respect, having food to eat, medicine if needed, a warm bed, and freedom to choose for themselves. Cooperation is the basis for advancement. And there is absolutely no reason why that cooperation should be blocked. I suggest removing those blockages for the good of humanity.

Also for the good of humanity, we need to shift our thinking to 'reuse' rather than 'buy new and throw away'. Green is the way to be. Even the ShayTards are doing their part and joining the green cause! I would most definitely be promoting green thinking. I mean, I already am, but it would be more of a full time endeavor.

EvolveLastly, on a much more controversial note, is something I really hope will happen sooner rather than later. I would love to rid the world of religion. Looking back through history, religion has been used countless times as an unquestionable and justifiable reason for killing. Gruesome torturous killing. Wiping out millions of people in the name of something you are told to worship. Despicable human behavior rationalized by myth, and bad myth at that.

I am an Atheist, and I would love to roam the world showing people how to open their eyes. Keeping them open would be their choice. But at least they would know they had a choice to make.

Sooo... if I weren't into rocket science, and I weren't trying to get us to other planets, I would be -

- A Ninja, Kung Fu master, trained and skilled in the use of the Katana.

- Partying with my very own posse of dolphin friends, discussing the wonders of the world.

- Owner of state of the art, top of the line, awesome tree house village, complete with waterfall.

- Lead singer of badass hardcore band "Evil's Lair"™

- Promoting cooperation, caring, sharing, fair play and Green living!!

And..

- Showing you that you can OPEN YOUR EYES..

I am sure you would do this even if you are a scientist.

Very cool.  I gave it all up (coding predictive systems) after 20 years and went into Permaculture study and helping startup companies working on "good" things.  As Gandhi said, "Be the change you want to see in the world".

And I have to mention "Daemon" and "FreedomTM" by Daniel Suarez as very cool fiction books with real tech basis.

@Brian - Haha, I guess I am in a way, but it's not just christ that I'm anti.. but yea, I do fit the bill, I mean I already am called 'Evil' I think that helps my cause, no?

@Jon - Thank you for the nice comment! Really good to hear you switched paths too. I have a feeling I will do the same at some point too, or at the very least find a way to combine them. And I will definitely check out those books!

I've been told my mint chip and cookies & cream are the best. I've never tried the banana bread, but it shouldn't be too hard to do. I did devise birthday cake for my best friend.

You need liquor in your tree house. I just woke up, and that's what I'm thinking about.

@Ash I sure hope you still believe that, because that is the reality of it. If you want something, go out and get it. Do not let anyone stand in your way, certainly not society or other people who know less than you do about your abilities. I doubt there is anything you couldn't achieve. I think most people just don't think to try. Has there ever been anything you really tried for, I mean, really put your all into that you couldn't do? I doubt it.
