Oh yes, this is happening. In just two weeks time, your b'loved Tideliar and I will be hosting a wee get-together during the Annual Society for Neuroscience Meeting in San Diego. It's a chance for us to meet all of you lovely people, and for you to meet each other, as well! We will drink, we will be merry, and we will most certainly banter.
According to its website, Quality Social is a bar. With food. It's also conveniently located near the Convention Center and has a solid bourbon selection, the importance of which I trust at this point needs no explanation.

While not required, your RSVP is much appreciated. I'll be starting a twitter list of attendees, so if you'd like to be on it and see who your future BFFs are, hop on The Twitter and produce a tweet--any tweet--that contains our special hashtag: #sfn10banter. If you're not yet on the twitter train, this is the perfect opportunity! Not only will you be able to keep abreast of any B.A.N.T.E.R. developments, but there's going to be tons of tweeting happening throughout the meeting, and it will be a great way for you to stay in touch with--let's face it--all the cool people.
Even if you're staunchly anti-twitter, we'd love to see you! Leave a note in the comments here or shoot an email to dr.becca.phd [at] gmail instead, if you'd like.
Best Tweet-up Ever!!!!!!!

They have Bakers, Bookers and Woodford Reserve. Bourbon list has my approval. Alas, I will not be at SfN (nor will my nipple shirt), so I trust you to have a drink or two for me. Or three. I've commented over at Tideliar's asking him as well. Hopefully I can get you all smashed by proxy.
Thanks for your egalitarian approach to commenting, Odyssey. Wish you were coming to our party, though! And if you haven't yet had Blanton's or Basil Hayden, I insist you go out and try them at your earliest convenience. Heavenly.
In a past life, I used to organize whiskey tastings.
Oh I've tried both. And like both. I just lean more towards Bakers, Bookers and Woodford (in that order). Knob Creek is worth trying too - it did surprisingly well at a blind tasting I was at. Not as smooth as the others, but still good to partake.
I've got you on the twitter list, Mary! Looking forward to meeting you!
And Odyssey, you rock. Please say we can go whiskey drinking should you ever pass through NYC, OK?
You know, it's very hard to keep up with these posts on the main page because your titles differ only by the number of exclamation points :P
@Gerty of course!! I will take you to all my favorite whiskey haunts!
@Brian, I've learned I'm pretty much incapable of using just one exclamation point, especially when it's something as exciting as a party I get to host with Tideliar!!!
w00t!!!!!!!! <- excessive exclamation point abuse
Actually, one of editors thrashed into me the rule that in formal writing one never, NEVER, and I mean motherfucking NEVER uses more than one exclamation point (or mark as we say in the Old COuntry).
I think you two should show up to the party on a Vespa scooter. And TideLiar has to ride side saddle.
That's funny, Brian, I actually suggested to Tideliar that we get a Vespa. Tell you what, if LabSpaces foots the bill, we'll do it!
Don't forget the shirt with the strategically cut out holes. It's like you're gonna be a couple months late for Pride...
So nice to know I'm not the only paranoid one. :-) But sad to know that sometimes "just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean their not after you". :-( **Off to go check prices for tiny cam. . .Read More
