I also love 'em - it's been a great way to catch posts I missed during the week. I just hope mine this coming weekend lives up to the standard that's been set ;)

I love the round ups!

First off, I'd like to thank Kelly and Dr. Becca for putting together roundups the last two weeks. The roundups seem to be well-received, and I think they help with providing visibility to posts and bloggers. We've got volunteers to cover the next two weeks. So...

Do you want to continue to see LabSpaces blog roundups?

And if so, anyone else care to volunteer? :)

Alrighty then. We've got Aug. and the first 1/2 of Sept. covered.

Aug. 7 - yours truly
Aug. 14 - Lady Scientist
Aug. 21 - Kelly
Aug. 28 - Dr. Becca
Sept. 4 - Dr. O
Sept. 11 - DNA

I'm happy to do the 28th!

BTW, I know I didn't link to all posts that have gone up this week. I tried to give a flavor of what went up. If I missed any big ones (outside of work-life balance posts) that you'd like to see highlighted, just let me know and I can update the post.

For those putting together roundups in coming weeks, it will probably be faster and easier if you keep a post in draft and make notations/links throughout the week :)

Dr. O-Works for me :)

I've posted the general roundup for this week's posts. link I'll post one for the work-life balance posts later this weekend. Let me know what you think.

I have a grant update due the end of Aug, so how about the 4th for me?

Ok, so far the schedule looks like:
Aug. 7 - yours truly
Aug. 14 - Lady Scientist
Aug. 21 - Kelly
Aug. 28 - tbd
Sept. 4 - tbd
Sept. 11 - DNA

Maybe LabMom and Dr. O could take Aug. 28 and Sept. 4. Let me know if you need to switch dates. I've listed the Saturday of each weekend, but anything between Friday and Sunday would be fine I think, especially if Brian makes the post sticky (which I think is an excellent idea). I'll try to remember to send you a reminder on Thursday before your weekend. I think it might also be helpful for a separate person to be responsible for rounding up future theme days; maybe we can recruit/conscript someone as we plan each theme.

I'll probably end up posting 2 roundup posts this weekend - a more complete one for the work-life balance theme and one for other posts of the week. After they're up, please leave your general thoughts/comments/suggestions in this thread.

I'm willing to take a week, but I wanna go a little later, once I see some other people's examples.

I'm happy to do it but I'm booked until the weekend of Sept. 11. (How did that happen?)

I think setting up a rotation for the roundup is a great idea-I just didn't want to burden anyone else with my cooky ideas ;) Plus I wouldn't want it to turn into an obligation.

I'm willing to take the first one this weekend, if we want to start off right away. Maybe if you're interested in putting together a roundup in the coming weeks, leave a post on this thread, possibly with weeks you would do it or weeks that are no good. Then I'll put together a summary list of our coverage here.

Very good idea Belle, Maybe we could even "Sticky" the roundup post at the top of the feed for a few days so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle either

I like the idea. How about a rotation? A different blogger each week could do be in charge of the roundup.

I like the idea, but I'd worry about one person getting loaded up with being responsible for this long term. Any ideas on how to split it up among the other bloggers?

Along the lines of keeping good posts from getting lost in the buzz, I was wondering what people might think about roundup posts. I think they're definitely great for "theme days" like Tuesday's Work-Life balance mini-carnival (which DrugMonkey did threw together). But I was thinking that a weekly or semi-weekly roundup post might be useful too. Right now, I have more time to read and comment on blogs, but typically I do much of my reading/commenting on weekends and can end up overlooking or forgetting good posts from earlier in the week. With the amount of content being generated in a week, having a end of week post that provides a brief summary (with links, of course) of what we're discussing might pull some more people into the conversations. It could also be a good opportunity to connect to other bloggers outside LabSpaces who are posting on similar topics. We could also bring some of the most commented news stories into the mix, as well.

If there's any interest among the bloggers and the readers, I would be willing to put some summary posts together over the next few weeks, to give the idea a test drive, so to speak. What do you think? Yeah or nay?
