Apparently I might have mild ADHD... I was talking with my physician during a yearly physical once and she stopped me and said "you know you've bounced the subject at least four times since I walked in here. have you got ADD?", so i spoke to a friend who is a shrink and she kind of did the 20 questions and micro-shrinked me and said she thought I might have mild ADHD. And there was oh look a bunny rabbit...

If only you had ADHD too, then you'd be an admissions director's wet dream!

Only if you're also an amputee. Otherwise, not so much.

Hey I'm a semi-brown bastard with a dad from the middle east raised in a mixed religion and political household, it don't come anymore diverse than this.

I have a physicist from China who just sent me an audition post. It sounds interesting, we'll need Kelly to verify the data because it's kind of over my head ;) Starting the audition thread in a minute.

Don't worry guys, my dad is Cuban, so I got some hispanic representation.

I know @MTHellfire on twitter is a geophysicist, not sure if she'd be interested, but might as well check out her blog, see what you think.

That's part of the point made by Bora. And note that he talks about all kinds of diversity, not just the skin color kind - for example the lack of earth sciences blogs in collectives. I don't know how best to go about increasing diversity here other than raising the issue so we can all be on the look out for blogs that might be good additions.

Note that I wasn't in any way criticizing anyone. It's a universal blogging problem.

Can I suggest that, if someone identifies a blog that would increase our diversity (skin color, scientific or otherwise) we consider lifting the current moratorium on inviting new writers?

I'm definitely all for diversity, it's just hard to find that diversity in the science blogging world. I've been looking :)

The blogfather Bora has an interesting new post up on the new blog collectives (including nice words for LabSpaces!). He lays out some thoughts on diversity. Something for us to consider if and when we do starting adding new writers.

Wait and see works for me.

I agree with the wait and see approach, the dust clouds still have not settled and some of us are still unpacking boxes. But the new place is great and it still has that new house smell.

I think that's hard to say, right now. For me, I'd like to see how things go the next month or two before deciding.

We're getting close to that milestone of 25 bloggers now. I figured I'd open up this discussion. How many is too many? How would you like to structure invites? Personally I don't think I'd want to get over 50 bloggers (and that might even be too may!). You guys are a handful as it is :P
