Save it for the blog page. I like the main page - as far as I'm concerned there's nothing to add or change.

What about trying to generate discussion on news posts, is anyone interested in that? and having a most rated/commented for those? Just me? Just a thought :)

So is there anything else that needs updating? Are we all generally happy now? Remember, you'll be removed from the main page writer list if you don't post for 2 weeks, and the "discussions" "popular" and "best rated" sections are generated only using posts from the last week. Do you think we need an All Time best rated/most discussions? Save that for the blog page redesign?? :P

I think there should be pictures in the Featured Blogs, for sure. But I like the way the Recent Posts feed looks without them. So a combination of the two you showed! I also second Belle's suggestion to add a little space between columns--it will also help with the busy-ness, I think.

I think it's looking good, Brian. I'm one who lkes a little breathing room between columns, so maybe increase the white space between the main column and sidebar at the top. And/or maybe but a simple container/border around the sidebar. I do like the "From the writers section", though I do think taking the preview pics out of the recent posts section might be good.

How about this, if there isn't a preview image I'll stick in the person's profile pic? Or make a flask icon as the default. People are drawn to pictures, at least I know I will click on a link with a picture before I'll click on a naked headline. That's just me though :) What does everyone else think?

I like the "writers" part a lot. My suggestion to de-busy everything else would be to remove the preview pics from the "recent posts" column, so it's really just a straight feed of post titles, without all the white space or lines. Especially since not everyone puts in a preview pic, I think it would help make that column look more clean and unified. This is basically what I had in my mock-up, in case I'm not explaining it well.

It's going slowly, first module is up. "Featured Blogs."

To get into that list you must have a blog rating of 4 or above from 5+ bloggers OR I have decided to make it a feature :)

Happy voting! I'll try to get the rest of the redesign done over the next few days, but I thought this was important to get up ASAP. Please let me know if it needs more whitespace, line divisions, etc. I can't decide what would look better :) So it's up to you!
