Sounds to me like they'll take anything over boredom. But I find it hard to believe that a robot elicits the same feelings as a warm, cuddly dog. I wonder if her test subjects were Alzheimer patients too far gone to even know what they were interacting with. They'd be happy with a Cabbage Patch doll to take care of. The Assisting Living population would be a better demographic to test, as they're still coherent enough to appreciate something living. Or better yet, the children and grand children could actually take time out of their "busy" schedule and visit them once in awhile.
