can mature neurons go neoplastic?
Sat, Feb 19, 2011, 7:51 am CST

i have read about neuroblastomas and medulloblastomas, but they arent really tumours of neurones, they are of embryonic cells. i wonder, how could a permanent cell like a neuron  go neoplastic if it cannot divide in the first place?

could it be that a mutation in the neuronal genome result in the actual division of the cell resulting in possible uncontrolled proliferation?!

thank you!
