SPELL CHECK!!!
I know...duh. "I always run the spell checker." "Only an idiot doesn't spell check."
And yet 30% of the resumes I've seen have misspellings. Spelling isn't everything, but it is an early sign of your professionalism and eye for detail. Of course, no spell checking application is perfect and there are bound to be gaps when it comes to technical terminology. But don't assume you typed it correctly the first time. I've seen "flourescence" or “compatable” dozens of times on the resumes of capable scientists. The same goes for company names.
There are numerous ways to conduct a successful job search. However, I’ve never heard of a poorly edited resume working in someone’s favor.

Number 1 key to your bioscience job search

I'm currently doing a few searches for process development people.  One of the people I contacted referred me to another who, while listed on LinkedIn, does not allow strangers to connect with her.  You have to know her email to send her anything and she is not listing it in her profile.  Yet she is advertising that she is looking for a new job.

Making it difficult for people to contact you will make your job search last much longer.  Think through your visibility and accessibility.  You may want a separate namejobseeker@gmail.com email address, but you want recruiters and hiring managers to be able to connect with you!!
