I love the beach towns. Hermosa is great. Huntington Beach, Seal Beach are awesome. My sister lives in Seal beach. The boutique shopping there is the best. I think my sister and I kept a few people employed this year.

I LOVE the UCLA area. We go to the Bruin football games at the Rosebowl. Such a blast.

I LOVE the music scene. All the bands stop in LA during their tours so you can catch a lot of music. I like drinking downtown on Sunset strip but it's expensive.

I LOVE the mountains. Everywhere you look is moutains. San Gabriel, Santa Susana and Santa Monica mountains are gorgeous. I went fossil hunting in the Santa Susana mountains and found some great pieces.

There is also an observatory on Mount Wilson you can drive to and spend a day with a picnic basket.

There is so much hiking you can do and skiing is pretty close if you like that- just go east an hour or two.

I think you'll find that most people are very friendly (except when driving) and very open-minded and go-with-the-flow personalities. People are generally in a good mood because the weather is so nice.

And once you have some time or a long weekend, you MUST drive north to Santa Barbara. It is so beautiful. If I end up super rich, I'll retire there. And then a little bit north is San Ynez in the Santa Barbara Wine country. If you saw the movie "Sideways" it was filmed there. Maybe the most fun I've ever had was in Solvang and San Ynez.

And you are only 1 hr flight away from Las Vegas and a fun fare cost only $39 one way, so anytime you need to really cut loose, it's fast and easy.

So much to love about LA!

Overlord, I've only been in the Marina Del Rey area so far, lil bit of culver city, manhattan, hermosa beach.. so those are kinda cool. I haven't been downtown or anything, and I do like the UCLA area too. But yea, it is a city.. no stars at night.. no open spaces.. buut they do have rockets :)

Thanks Jade. It was totally last minute craziness. I'm in LA, if I get the job, I'll stick around :) Regardless I seem to be back in the US for the forseeable future.
