The agent in green tea that is suppose to be cancer fighting is EGCG, and is also found in broccoli and cauliflower...maybe EGCG is ineffective against certain cancers or different green teas have varying amounts of EGCG in them.
I thought this article was interesting. Do you know if there are any studies demonstrating the cancer fighting abilities of EGCGs?
There was a recent press release about the cancer fighting abilities of broccoli. It was mostly dismissed though as the authors weren't able to provide any publications to support the findings and it was suggested the press release was a little premature. It's interesting to see that green tea (which also has EGCGs according to WAIDTA) is shown not to prevent breast cancer in this article. Shows just how contentious an issue it is and that way more research is needed before the press start making such big claims. I'm with labtech2149, it would be interesting to see the range of literature on the caner fighting abilities of EGCGs.
