Hello! I'm wondering if someone can help a tech-limited newbie on the site learn how to add folks to the blogroll that aren't in the check box list. Many thanks!
Go to "Edit Blog Settings" in your "Blog" menu (in the pale blue horizontal menu above). Scroll down to "Blogroll" (underneath the "Twitter Settings" bit).
There are two sections. The top one has three form fields (Blog Name, Link to Blog, and Link to Blog RSS Feed). I assume this is what you want to use. Fill out the three fields, then scroll down to the grey "Add Bloggers" button below the second section (which lists LabSpaces blogs plus some others) and click. If you've put the right info in the forms you'll get a "Success!" message and an entry will automagically appear in a blogroll in a column on the right side of your blog. Keep adding blogs via this form until you're done.
If you get a message telling you the process failed, it's most likely what you put in the RSS field (at least it was for me). If what you put in there started with "feed://", replace that with "http://". Unfortunately when the "Add Bloggers" process fails you need to fill out all three fields again - the info disappears from the fields.
Hope that helps.
Sorry about that, I can set the form to not clear the fields after submission if that'd help?
It's not a big deal, just something that I found a little confusing the first time it happened.
I guess the problem is that I haven't figured out how to make ajax recognize an error. It's probably some simple javascript, I'll think about it and try to fix it :)
