user customizable blog feed
So I said earlier that I wanted to make the blogroll script available to users too, but I didn't program that in yet because I didn't think it'd get used. However, the release of that science blogging aggregation feed site made me think that a user customizable blog feed would be way better, but the only thing I worry about is that people would just customize a blog feed for their favorite bloggers (many of whom may not be on the site) and not draw attention to our home grown content. What do you all think? Would you like to see a list of the most recent posts by all of your favorite bloggers on your main login page?
I'm w/ DGT. I use Thunderbird as my RSS reader for blogs I follow.
Agreed. I've got Google Reader always open, so there's no need!
Lol, so then why was everyone so excited by the new aggregation site?
From my standpoint, the aggregator is great b/c it covers far more blogs than I would/could ever find through linkbacks, and it's nice to have so many in one spot. Honestly there are probably a number of blogs out there that I wouldn't read regularly, but that might have an occasional post that piques my interest. Plus it's set up to pull together all the blog carnivals. It's the sort of thing that I'll probably skim a few times a week.
btw, LabSpaces is the only feed on scienceblogging.org that includes the blog name with the post title! I like it! Kudos, Brian :)
