That's pretty incredible that there are two fault lines pretty much parallel to one another in such close proximity, I wonder how many other undiscovered fault lines there are. It doesn't bode particularly well for the people of Haiti though, I wonder if the Haitian government will do anything with this information and how serious the warning about the other fault line is.

I was also wondering how many unknown faults there are around the earth. How did this one go undetected for so long?

Yeah, it's pretty weird to imagine that. I guess most of the major ones near big cities are pretty much know.  Though this one is in a pretty major area, as we saw from the quake, perhaps with Haiti being a poorer country not as much money is invested in examining the faults. I didn't imagine that there would be unknown faults.

How do they discover faults? I wonder if there are new methods that could broaden our understanding of them and where they are.
