So a child tends to do does what his best friend does? What else will they find?

Really LabSpace, I am a ardent follower of your posts and blogs, but the quality seems to be slipping. Or are you trying to make a point of the funding wasted on pointless research?

I think you're missing the point here.  With obesity running rampant in the US and abroad, it's important that we find ways to break the cycle of the obesity epidemic.  I posted this because it shows that group activity with friends outside of school or with positive friend role models could be important for making children healthier.

"Exercising with a best friend or having a friend who is a good exercise role model increases the chance of a child keeping fit and active. We know that kids who exercise during childhood are more likely to continue these good habits as they grow up - reducing their risk of heart and circulatory disease."

I don't know how things are in Europe, but parents these days seem to be missing the fact that activity with friends is important.  Screen time (computer or TV) seems to be the dominant after school activity these days.  Although research like this is obvious to you, it may not be so obvious to parents with children who are slowly creeping to a life of obesity.
