As requested, Brian, a new thread ;) First, thanks for setting up the RSS feeds for the comments on our blogs. A couple of other questions/suggestions regarding comments

1. Clarification from my last post on the blogger forum thread: On some blogs (like WordPress), individual comments are assigned an identifier/number. The identifier is typically hidden but can be uncovered, for instance, by clicking on the time stamp for the comment, appending the comment number to the url. This allows anyone to link directly back to a specific comment, like this, instead of linking back to the main post. It's something that might come in handy further down the road, if/when we start picking up lots of comments on our posts :)

2. Another down the road thing might be nested comment threads, a la WordPress or Intense Debate. I find this useful when multiple threads of discussion emerge in the comments.

I'm just throwing these ideas out there-it does not mean I expect action, esp. if no one else is interested. Perhaps others have different thoughts.

I HATE nested comments threads :P Maybe it's from being on Fark for so many years ;) But it everyone wants me to add the option, I will :)

Linking to a specific Comment is easy. I'll put that on the list.

Any chance of eventually adding a "recent comments" widget? It's early days here (at least for me), so it's easy enough to look through my posts so see who's commented where. However, as the number of posts grows this gets difficult. It would be nice to know if people are still commenting on an old post and to stay in the discussion.

Just follow your "Comments" feed :) http://www.labspaces.net/blogcomments.xml?ID=624

Would you like the option to stick that feed into your sidebar with the blogroll etc?

You can now add your most recent comments. Just put in how many you'd like to display in your "edit settings" section.

Hey Brian,
Is there any way we can delete our own comments when they don't come out as planned?? I just comment-bombed one of GR's posts trying to get an image to show up without luck. It would be nice if I could remove some of them...

I think it got pissy because you stuck some image shack junk in there. Next time just use the "Image" button and stick in the image location.

No problem :)

You can always have GR delete the comments for you. Or just tell me and I'll fix them. If you guys really want edit/delete power of your own comments, I can do that, but that also leaves the door open to abuse :P

As long as you're happy deleting my screw ups, that works for me.
